If you can't stop, smile as you go by.

This sign is painted on the side of a silo in "downtown" Cherokee, OK.  I visit there a couple of times a year, and everytime I go, I stop with my family and we take funny photos.  I love this sign. Especially here in Los Angeles, we have a hard time stopping as we are driving by something fun.  I get customers in daily who say, "I have been driving by for awhile and have been wanting to stop in."  I'm thinking that the groovy flowers outside and fun designs make them smile as they drive by.  And one day they'll stop and discover the goodies inside of the boutique.  XO, M.E.

1972...inspiration from Oklahoma...

This photo was taken circa 1972 in Cherokee, OK.  I'm on the right...My dad and brother, Donald are with me.  I can't remember who the dog belonged to...Funny how 30+ years later, my hair is almost the same length and I get compliments when I wear hats.  It's time to find some cool hats for my customers!

I'm thirsty!

Fall in LA feels like summer to the rest of the world.  I keep drinking water all day...Check out this photo from the early 70's. That's me with my dad, John,  and little brother, Donald just outside of Cherokee, OK.  We collected our own water in the big plastic jugs.  How environmentally friendly!  And that floral dress I wore --- so cute.  I wish I could find a place like that here in LA.  It was a lot of fun!  XO, M.E.
p.s. - Momma Blue took the photo, and sister Blue wasn't born yet.

Road tripping for the new boutique...

One of my favorite things to do is to find groovy vintage pieces to mix into my boutique. The question I always get is, "Where do you find your stuff?" Well...I can't give away all of my secrets, but let's just say that it involves road trips to small towns in the middle of the country with one blinking red light. I went to Oklahoma to see family recently...and came back with a carload of goodies. Photos are of M.E. with Blue...and the one in the treasure-filled store is of Momma Blue helping us find stuff. Let's just say some amazing belt buckles were discovered in there for the groovy guys who will be popping into 566 Rose Avenue. XO, M.E.
