90's

In the 90's, I had just graduated from FSU and moved to NYC. I thought of my lofty career goals with my art degree and was lucky to get entry level jobs in the Big Apple. Thank goodness I had a background in retail! As far as fashion was concerned, I wore a lot of light denim and chambray. It's all back in style.

The image below shows me with my some of my best friends from college having a fun time and sporting the chambray look.

Chambray circa 1986

As I'm working on development and designs for the Spring 2010 line, I'm also out vintage shopping for styles that work back to what's happening now. This spring, light denim (chambray), is back in the forefront of the fashion scene. Thank goodness I have "vintage" photos of some of my best friends for inspiration as well.

Robin...circa 1986, wearing a chambray skirt from The Limited. It was my skirt, but she styled it like in a whole new way. Check out the layered pearl necklaces, paisley top, and fun beret. She totally rocked it. Her daughter, Pixie, has been a style inspiration for the boutique as well. No wonder. XO, M.E.
