Road tripping for the new boutique...

One of my favorite things to do is to find groovy vintage pieces to mix into my boutique. The question I always get is, "Where do you find your stuff?" Well...I can't give away all of my secrets, but let's just say that it involves road trips to small towns in the middle of the country with one blinking red light. I went to Oklahoma to see family recently...and came back with a carload of goodies. Photos are of M.E. with Blue...and the one in the treasure-filled store is of Momma Blue helping us find stuff. Let's just say some amazing belt buckles were discovered in there for the groovy guys who will be popping into 566 Rose Avenue. XO, M.E.

Fixing up the new ME & Blue space on 566 Rose Avenue...

This past Saturday, I worked on the renovation of my boutique space.  Mission:  Paint.  Accomplished:  Uhh...not all the way!  We encountered lots of dust, debris, and prep work that wasn't in the plan.  So...after hours of prepping, and the text-book guidelines for painting a room, the main room was finished.  We lost daylight and more rooms needed to be painted.  Sunday morning I called my carpenter and delegated (paid!) for the rest of the painting to be done.  Now I'm focusing on getting my designs produced, my logo fine-tuned, and laying out the fixtures for the boutique....
p.s....the painting is almost done (Thanks Phillip!) and looks fabulous!

What inspires me...

Living in LA, sunshine, a bit of sparkle combined with the down-to-earth vibe of wicker. People who are genuinely kind to me...my new niece, Sophia-Blue. A good road trip. The new guy in my life who makes me laugh about my musical taste. The muppets, fresh daisies, my boxer, and my new store.

This photo reminds me of what is important. It was taken when I was around 5 years old.

looking for new locations in LA

My quest to reinvent ME & Blue has brought me checking out a few locations...all seem to feel best on the west side of LA...it must be the ocean breezes and pretty sunsets that make me want to stay on this side of town.

One option is to be next to my new favorite plant store, Big Red Sun. On Rose Avenue, this fun strip in Venice reminds me of the best of NYC living...a mix of down and out people, to those living in million dollar condos and bungalows.

Stay tuned to find out where I sign a lease. My pioneering spirit keeps me away from super gentrified neighborhoods and gravitating towards more funky & bohemian spots of LA that nurture the creative spirit. Stay tuned!

XO
