Not valid for cash, discounts, etc.  Limit 1 per customer, while supplies last.

Elizabeth cowl necks! The perfect accessory.

The new Elizabeth cowl neck is great.  $4o - $45, it's one of the best things to wear when it's a bit chilly.
As a cowl neck, it has the look of a big chunky necklace.   I just sold one today as a gift...one size fits all!

Then it gets fun!  You can wear it as a hood, double it up as a thick turtleneck, too.

It's named after my friend Elizabeth Gillett, a scarf designer in NYC.  I met her 15+ years ago when she was just getting started.  When I moved to LA a few years ago, I was a sales rep for her line.  She lives a simple life to help keep her creativity charged.  I like that.  From riding her bike from Tribeca to the Garment District, taking her daughter, Gemma with her to work, and living without clutter.  Cool.  (photo below!)

Brittany! Show off your inner babe.

The Brittany top is fab.  It's great as a comfy tunic top, or as a dress for those of you who love to show off your legs.    Shown below in cream lace ($88).

It's named after Brittany who works here at the boutique part-time.  She's sassy and cute and has great style.  She's also a bit silly...as seen here with her little sister.

$78 in the grey stripe... shown alone, and with the matching Elizabeth cowl neck ($45).

A day in the life...

A day in my life...here's what today brought.

1. Wake up and grade students papers.

2. Go to the garment 'hood and introduce my FIDM class to the techniques of an expert fabric pleater.  Field trips rock!

3.  Head back to FIDM and grab my favorite new food at the FIDM Cafe - so yummy, so light.  Perfect.  Tri-ce.  I wish that Whole Foods would start carrying these.

4.  Teach 2 FIDM classes the benefits of good lighting, wall displays, and more.  Here's an example of an amazing wall display at TopShop in London.

5.  Finish teaching at 6 PM and chat with a couple of my students from a previous quarter.  Call Brittany at the boutique and check on sales.

6.  Head over to my sewing contractor.  Drop off cut tickets for new fab styles, recuts on ME & Blue best sellers...like the Goddess, Janna, Edison, Julianne, Kristi.  Submit sketches and swatches for new samples and discuss the logistics of wholesale of the ME & Blue collection to other boutiques around the country.

7.  The day is done!  Time to eat!  I grab take out Samosa House just down the street from my apartment.  What took me so long?    This Indian food rocks!

8.  Feed the pooch and chill out with her.

9.  Ichat with my honey about what we should be for Halloween.  Contemplate this 'Pretty in Pink' idea.  I can be Molly Ringwald.  He can be either Ducky or Andrew McCarthy.  He wants to be the boyfriend.  Duh!

10.  Night night!  XO, M.E.

floppy hats.

Brrr.  The crazy winds brought cooler air today.  In LA, "cold" means less than 70 degrees.  Our idea of bundling up is putting on a hat.  I love this groovy new style.  $30 in a range of colors.  Cozy!

Sassy Sheridan jackets...bring on the bling!

We got in some new fabrics and versions of the Sheridan jacket.  It's an easy fit, relaxed style that looks great over fitted items underneath...skinny jeans and a tank top.  It also looks fab over the Kristi dress.

Bring on the bling!  $98 to $125.  XO, M.E.

Sunday, Sunday. And walking boxer dogs

I love this old photo of my Grandfather, Donald Coppock... and his boxer dog, Maiden.  It was taken in the early 70's, I'm thinking.  I grew up with boxer dogs and still love them.   So today Danielle worked at the boutique, and I did volunteer work at Boxer Rescue LA.  I'm wiped out. There were so many fabulous boxers who needed a good walk and attention.  I can't wait to go back!  XO, M.E.

Love...Lorisa+Aidan. In new colors.

They're back!  The Lorisa+Aidan style is named after my dear friend Lorisa and her son, Aidan.

Other friends like Lilly (in black) and Janna (in grey) have also loved the style...

The first batch of this style sold out quickly, so I had more recut in new fabulous colors.

What's so great about this style is that the cowl neck can be added or taken off...depending on your mood (and the crazy weather!).

Some customers love the Aidan cowl neck as a tube top (below with Blank Jeans).

And the Aidan cowl neck can be worn as a pencil skirt, too (below).
Easy, cozy (and machine washable) knit!  So much fun!  Grey, taupe, burgundy, and plum...black will be back in stock soon!  $98.  XO, M.E.

funny photo time...

It's been a long day.  I'm running around, getting trims, sequins, and seamless lingerie for the boutique.  So today's blog is another blast from the past to make me smile.  Circa 1971...with my Mom, Grandfather, and Great Grandmother.  My mom is rocking a bouffant, my Great Grandmother's glasses are a riot, and my Granfather looks proud.  I'm looking annoyed that I had to remove my white sunglasses for the photo op.  I'm guessing my love for accessories started early!  Check out the wood panels, groovy hanging light, and "it's not CB2, but feels like it" pleather ottoman.  XO, M.E.

My guy, my dog and a blog.

I don't mention my dog, Angie a lot. But I love her.  She and my boyfriend, Dave.  They keep me sane, laughing, and put all things in perspective.  While I'm working on designs for the 'Angie Mae' top, I think of her.  At 10, she's still sassy, curvy, tons of fun, and has gone on many wild adventures with me.  Dave has joined in the fun, too.  My two loves.  XO, M.E.

The Power of Purple - part 3

Purple, purple, everywhere!  During my travels last month, purple seemed to be all over the place.  Here are more images and inspiration of this new neutral.

paint-o-rama

The Los Angeles Youth Project came by and painted the street numbers for the boutique.  As always, normal numbers bought from a hardware store wouldn't work.  Roy (a grandfather from Guatamela - shown L) and Alan (R), a counselor from the project came by today, along with Ken (not shown).  Danielle got in on the fun and I managed to get a photo of her dodging the camera today wearing the Pixie dress as she was finishing up her shift.  It's been a tough week.  LA rains brought leaks to the ceiling of the bungalow.  I hard a hard time sleeping as I was worried about all of the new designs that had just come in and rain damage that may have happened. Yep...all is sunny and flower-ful again.  Yay.   This is why I live in LA.  XO, M.E.
